What a lovely idea. . .

So I was over at the lovely blog of the lovely miss swissmiss who had a lovely idea: what if, instead of name tags with just your silly old name on them that really doesn’t do much to achieve what you want at the kind of gatherings where name tags are used, you instead had a topic for conversation pinned to your lapel?
Talk to me about. . . the Italian trecento.
Talk to me about. . . neural networks.
Talk to me about. . . oyster beds.
Talk to me about. . . the weather.

When I’m in charge of these kinds of things, that’s what I’m doing; something that actually facilitates networking, or just getting to know people.

My friend Richard (the gentleman above) turned me on (no pun intended) to this hilarious and awesome project from Truth Through Action.
“Some people donate money, others make phone calls or register voters. I pose for pictures in my underwear.”
Support the cause.

elevating common, overlooked objects. . .

On how many levels do I love these folks? Let me count the ways. . .

Bibliopath

Did I ever mention how much I love books as art? Dan Essig is great among the book artists of the world. I have also recently discovered the work of Nicholas Jones. He is a self-proclaimed bibliopath, he takes old, discarded pages and transforms them into a new beauty through a process of folding and tearing that is pretty much breathtaking.

Favourite Fall Jacket

The fall breeze has been beautiful here today, but I want the cold to come so I can wear my newest, favouritest worthwhile acquisition: Rick Owens = love.

5 simple pleasures

The good Joanna Goddard is asking an excellent question over at her Glamour blog, Smitten:
five simple pleasures, right now. Mine are clean bed sheets, when my sweetie makes me lunch, a hot shower on a cold day, fresh pasta, and a perfectly made cup of tea. Go share yours.
